Welcome to our website......

As a Catholic school, committed to the values of the Gospels, Holy Rosary School proudly welcomes the unique student population we serve. Our children and their families bring a cultural richness which we value, respect and celebrate. We are also committed to continuing the charism of our foundation sisters – the Sisters of St. Joseph.Celebrating Catholic Education in Queensland

We are privileged to have the support of the Parish priest of Lutwyche Parish, Fr John Fitz-Herbert, who extends his pastoral role to the school. Our class teachers, teacher librarian, learning support teacher, library aid, teacher aides and secretaries, constitute an excellent and highly-skilled staff. There are many others who give willingly of their time to various class programs.

Thank you for taking the time to tour our website and I invite you to contact the school should you have any queries.

YEAR OF GRACE
On Pentecost Sunday the Catholic Church throughout Australia begins a Year of Grace. This year long opportunity is the Australian bishops' gift to the Church to celebrate and renew our faith and life as Catholics. Throughout the year there may be various school and parish prayer times however the Year of Grace is not a program or series of events but rather a call to prayer and listening to the Spirit.

The Year of Grace is a time toYear of Grace

  • Seek an experience of Jesus
  • Name and claim grace in our lives
  • Be attentive to the many and various signs of Christ's presence in our world
  • Heal our relationships
  • Grow in wholeness

In addition to school and class liturgies keep an eye out in the newsletter for assemblies.

NAPLAN
Congratulations to all our Years 3, 5 & 7 students who completed the NAPLAN requirements this week. Thanks to the community for their support throughout the week in ensuring that the school environment was conducive to testing. NAPLAN results will be distributed to parents when we receive them from SALMAT later this year.

AFL:
Good luck to the children who will be representing Holy Rosary at the Gabba on Sunday in the AFL's dreamtime round playing at halftime. This is a special privilege and I am sure they will never forget this day. Next week we will place photos in our newsletter to showcase the day. I am very much looking forward to seeing our children on the Gabba ground.

Sorry DaySORRY DAY CEREMONY: Next Friday our dancers and Year 7 leaders will be involved in the Sorry Day ceremony at Kalinga Park, Wooloowin. Noonga Reconciliation Group and Dare to Lead will be hosting the event and a number of other schools will be attending. The ceremony will commence at 10:30 am and will finish around 11:30. A small morning tea will be provided from 10am. I look forward to seeing some of you there on the day.

On the same afternoon, group 2 will lead a prayer ceremony within the school assembly to commemorate Sorry Day. Assembly starts at 2pm. All parents, carers and community members are warmly invited.

National Sorry Day is recognised as a National Day of Commemoration and Remembrance. A day to honour the Stolen Generations and all that they have endured and all that has been lost through the removal of generations of Aboriginal children as a result of the Forced Removal Policies of the past.

The first Sorry Day was held in Sydney in 1998, and it is now commemorated nationally with memorial services, meetings, survival celebrations and community gatherings to honour the Stolen Generations.

QPAC – OUT of the BOX experience:
A big thank you to Madonna Patmore, Group One teacher, and QPAC who have organised a visit for our whole school to the Out of the Box Festival at Southbank. This will be a great experience for the children and more details will be provided next week. There will be no cost for this trip and after attending in previous years I know that the students will have an enjoyable and educational day.
